Look Good and Feel Great in Just a few Steps

201

Regardless of your age, status and occupation, everybody wants to look good and feel great. Admittedly, our society is fixated on our appearance more than it ought to be. Despite seeing a lot of progress today in terms of beauty variety standards, there’s still an ever-present pressure to look good anytime and everywhere.

This doesn’t necessarily have to be a bad thing – knowing how to look good can open many doors for you in all walks of life. It’s an ugly truth but you can take advantage of it if you do it smartly – use your sense of self-worth, self-love and self-care to enhance your natural beauty. Beauty might be in the eye of the beholder, but there is always more than meets the eye.

Put Your Hygiene First

Setting aside who you are and what you do, to look good, it’s imperative you are always clean and smell nice. There’s nothing more off-putting than a person who smells repulsively and skips the basic hygiene routine. To give your every day an uplifting start, start the routine with a shower, or a quick freshen-up session. Wash your hair, use dry shampoo if you’re in a hurry, cleanse your skin, and make sure you wear clean underwear and clothes. Put on your favourite perfume and any accessories you love that may complete your look.

Focus on staying healthy

Worrying about your body’s size and shape just because of how looks isn’t beneficial to your overall well-being. What is beneficial is being concerned about your body healthy functions. Be moderately physically active and stick to a healthy diet so you can stay in good shape, but don’t take it to the point of trying to force yourself to mould to the current unrealistic fashion model images.

Ditch the salty snacks and switch to more whole foods like fresh fruits and vegetables which are loaded with precious nutrients. Also, make sure you drink plenty of water to stay hydrated. And, whatever strategy you end up choosing, avoid processed foods, which not only have lots of hidden harmful ingredients but are potentially linked to a variety of diseases.

Get enough sleep

The fundamental part of how our bodies function is sleep. Sleep deprivation will not only make you feel awful but you’ll also look awful. Do your best to establish a proper routine which means that you go to bed and get up in the morning at about the same time every day. If you are struggling to fall asleep, lower your caffeine intake during the day, read before going to bed instead of looking at your phone and do some meditation or breathing exercises to relax.

Wear comfortable clothing

Discard the conventional media-defined ideals of beauty and establish your own. Wear as much makeup as you want or none at all, and do the same with clothes. Wear comfortable items such as high-quality leggings that you can style fashionably with other items you have in your wardrobe. Find combinations that make you feel great rather than fixating on what is currently trendy.

Define yourself in ways other than just your looks

Make your self-confidence dependent on your inner qualities, not physical looks. Focus on what you like about yourself – your talents, abilities, personality, relationships, and values. These almost infallibly lead to improvement in time and are often more adjustable than physical features.

Never neglect your skincare

Your skincare is the staple of your self-care. Never skip your routine. In summer, protect it from the sun’s harsh rays. Always apply your moisturizer that includes sunscreen – it will keep skin looking young and help prevent skin cancer. Also, consider including an antioxidant serum with hyaluronic acid in your routine, either in the morning or before you go to sleep.

Naturally, every person’s skin is different and there’s no one magic solution perfect for every person. It might take several weeks or months for results to show and you won’t be able to see full results immediately after starting any new skin routine but be persistent. It will be worth your while.

Take your ageing in stride

There will always be someone around who is younger and if you keep comparing yourself to them, you will inevitably deprecate your self-esteem. Forget about analysing the looks and lifestyles of the rich and famous – it will only lead to frustration. Most people can’t afford the luxuries of self-care they can, and what is more, no one has yet won the battle against time! You will look older as you age, but at least you can enjoy the journey!

We’ve all been exposed to years of indoctrination in our society’s views of attractiveness and overcoming that is not an easy or quick task. As you work your way through these steps devotedly, you will be able to reach a point where you will define yourself and your identity in a way that allows you to obtain the ultimate personal fulfilment that endures.
